YES,WELL ,SOUND REALLY GOOD,BUT… WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER FROM COUNTRIS WHO DO NOT USE COVER LETTERS AND HAVE TO WRITE DOWN ONE? FOR MANY OF US " TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN" IS A VERY RESPECTUL FORM TO SAY THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO CATHE THIER ATTENTION,BUT,I JUST DO NOT KNOW,I AM TRYING TO WRITE A COVER LETTER BECAUSE I WANT TO WORK IN CANADA,BUT I GOT STUCK, IN THE SUMMARY PART,THE SKILLS, AND THE GOALS. IN LATIN AMERICA WE DON'T USE COVER LETTERS,WE USE CV,AND YOU HAVE TO WRITE DOWN ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION,SKILLS,WORKS WITH DATES,ADDRESSES,NAMES OF YOUR FORMER BOSSES,REFERENCES,3 AT LEAST, WHY DID YOU QUIT OR LEAVE THAT JOB,A PHOTO OF YOUR SELF,NAME YOUR PARENTS,SOME PLACES ASKING YOU YOUR PARENTS NAMES,PROFESSION,IF YOU HAVE CHILDRENS AND NAMES,THAT SUCKS RIGHT? BUT WE GOT USED THAT WAY,AND NOW CHANGING TO THIS IT'S COMPLICATED. BUT I AM STILL TRYING.
The least favourite is that I have to pay to make it look nice lol
Hi. Please, help. I want to apply for office management assistant or administrative assistant but don't really know how to go about it because I have experience in a variety of field. Thanks
Writing a cover letter is exhausting and frustrating especially when you suffer from low self esteem and more when you don't know your potential. I don't know what to put in it.
That’s very interesting to learn.
Points covered in this video:
#1. Don’t use “To Whom it may concern”. Instead use: “Dear Hiring Team” or “Dear Hiring Manager”
#2. Cover letter should not be A recap of your resume
Blah blah blah
Hardest part is getting through all the self-promo in this video to the tips… only to find out I'm already doing things right anyways.
Why would you call a stranger Dear…? Maybe Esteemed… or something else. Dear, sounds pathetic and subservient when applying for a job. Dear is for family and friends.
In your opinion, when you send the e-mail with resume and cover letter in the cover letter it must be written that you intend to come to Canada through a Working Holiday Visa or work permit or better not to leave anything written?
Spend two hours on a cover letter per job posting just to get an email 6 months later that they have moved forward with another candidate
Little value given in this video, more time is spent getting you to subscribe and watch another video. Waste of time.
Recruiters basically hate anything you write on a CL.
writing the second and third paragraph is the hardest part of cover letter
Love this video, will share it with our team. If anyone here would like a free resume review, we can help!
I appreciate your service
is this canadian
Thank you good tips!
I find it hard maintaining motivation to write letters begging for a job that is gonna underpay me, especially given the condition the condition of the world. It seems useless some days.
This is very helpful information.
Interviews and professionalism is fake and these videos are not helpful for someone who doesn’t know how to express themselves with zero examples
Could you talk about motivation letters for scholarship programs please?
I'm 59 and have worked for over 40 years
The worst part for me is having to rewrite a CV for the many hundreds of companies (or in most cases, an employment agency, not knowing the actual end client)
one of my CV's is 12 pages long, but I like to only send one two pages long.
I have to 'dumb down' most of my career, because too often, I get told I'm over qualified, or if I chase them through, I'm asked why I'm going for a position that I used to manage for…
I've managed to get about 30 years of my career down to 2 or 3 lines.
About half of the last 20 years have been in contracting (many companies, short term)
Off-topic, but you kind of look like Gloria Estefan
"Why do you want to work for us?"
Because you want to pay me money
I always want to highlight soft skills since my hard skills are in the resume, except I feel like I'm being cliche.
I am really bad at “selling myself”. I feel I have a lot to offer a company, but it’s awkward trying to describe it all.
ahhaha all tips online say to whom it may concern. ahahhaha I thought was beaultiful… I felt so like Shakspeare ahhaha..
mam, please make a video on how to write a cover letter for apprenticship
Any job that requires a cover letter to get is not a good job.
You are telling them that they are doing you a favor by hiring you while you are the one offering a service.
Cover letters do not matter.
Make recruiters work for you.
Do not bend over backwards to get a job or you will only tell them that you aren't as qualified and you end up making less.
Your time is valuable. Do not waste it on cover letters. If a job needs one, the job isn't worth it.
if i know the name manager so i can write dear rona berliana ? and the write closing ist kind regards , or your sencerrly
J.T., the biggest challenge on writing a cover letter is trying to match my tone (enthusiasm, knowledge, etc…) versus the reader. I don't want to come off as a know-it-all & not humble, but at the same time I don't want to seem over excited and not genuine. That's for your post J.T. & WID.
This is the worst advice ever
I do not enjoy the cover letter process either, but understand their importance. In the past, I have carefully crafted this letter, and tailored my resume to hopefully get past the ATS screening. I have always wondered if these letters were actually read by somebody. Or if there is just a random check box noting a cover letter has been sent. What few times I have been lucky to be interviewed in the past, their has been no mention of my cover letter. Recruiters should truly give applicants with a cover letter preference in interview selection.
Your videos are top notch. Thank you so much for making them. 🙂
"To whom it may concern" is old school amd in personal…. Proceeds to recommend a diferent set of words that are no less in personal…
I hate recruiters. I have an experience, I have a degree but I have no job because of stupid recruiters requirements.
J T, can I send you my resume?
Least favorite part? Taking the time and energy to really try and speak to the employer, cover letter or otherwise, only to get no response at all. Then, learning what to do and what not to do through content like this, repeat the application process 500 times (seriously) with this new 'technique', to get either no response, bad management, or employers who don't realize that you can't put your life on hold for 3 months waiting on them to make a decision: ESPECIALLY, if you live in California.
